The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are located in the Bay of Bengal, to the southeast of the Indian subcontinent. They form an archipelago of over 500 islands, and are a Union Territory of India.

• Andaman Islands are situated to the north of the archipelago, closer to the Myanmar (Burma) coast.
• Nicobar Islands are located to the south of the Andaman Islands, closer to Indonesia.

These islands are about 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) east of the Indian mainland, with Port Blair being the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The region is known for its pristine beaches, diverse marine life, and unique indigenous tribes.

To reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, you have two main options: by air or by sea.

1. By Air:

• The most convenient and common way to reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is by flight.
• Veer Savarkar International Airport (Port Blair), located in Port Blair, is the main airport serving the islands. It has regular flights connecting to several major cities in India, including: Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi
• Airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air, Vistara and  Spicejet operate flights to Port Blair from these cities. The flight duration from the mainland cities is typically around 2–4 hours.

2. By Sea:

• You can also reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by ferry or ship from the Indian mainland, though this is a longer and less frequent option.
  • Kochi (Kerala) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu) have regular passenger ships that travel to Port Blair.
  • The journey by sea can take anywhere from 3 to 4 days, depending on the departure point.
  • The ships are operated by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration's Shipping Corporation (often referred to as ANC). There are also private cruise options available.

Andaman is a safer destination to travel as far as you follow the safety instruction during the water adventure and avoid visiting restricted areas. The crime rate is extremely low. If you're looking forward to water adventure, then find out the safe swimming zone and make sure the lifeguard is around. Seek advice from lifeguard before getting into the adventure.

 The general climate of Andaman Islands is pleasant. However, the best season considered is October to April when monsoon isn’t forecasted and climate remains pleasant. Monsoon brought by the southwest wind sets in during mid-May and continues till early October. Season for nature lovers is May to December when forest is lush green and waterfalls are at their prime. Divers can enjoy the best during December to April and bird watchers during winter times.

For water activities, the age limit is 7-60 years. It also depends on the activities undertaken. Moreover, it depends on the medical restriction for the activity. Also if you’ve water phobia or any other health problem, it is important to avoid water activities in Andaman. To know about the age limit, you can talk to the lifeguards before venturing into the water. 

There are various beach markets and quaint outlets to shop in Andaman. From cane handicrafts to wooden decorative items, one can shop for different option. Visit Port Blair market for interior decoration shopping. With the rise in tourism, the shopping options have also increased. Visit beach town where you'll find some amazing accessories made out of sea items. The sea-shell jewellery made legally here is the best buy. Try out the shelves of Port Blair's live street market stacked with small bamboo figurines, mats and beautiful showpieces. 

From South India to Northern Food, one can enjoy multi-cuisine in Andaman. Being an Island, Seafood off course on the top of the list. You get various varieties of seafood. Though there is no unique cuisine here, but one can still enjoy different varities of food of different religion and communities. 

Yes! One can easily find pure vegetarian foods in Andaman Islands. Restaurants here offer Indian and Asian vegan options. Icy Spicy, Annapurna, Kattabomman and few others serve the best vegetarian foods. 

To reach Havelock Island from Port Blair, it will take 3 hrs 12 min. There are regular government and private ferry service.

You can spend some days at Havelock Island to explore some exotic beaches and locations around. This also allows you to take rest and experience the place. 

SBI, TMB,ICICI and other state banks ATMs are available in Andaman, Port Blair and Havelock. But you need to carry cash from your start of the journey to avoid any problems later. 

Apart from required documents, you need to carry right items according to the weather the region has. Light cotton clothes, sunglasses, vital medicines and sunburn relief products. Along with these, do carry passport, spare passport photos and ID proof. Apart from this, please make sure that you've proper reservation in hotels.
